'But What is It...?"

Simon Petersen founded SP Radio in post-war Denmark during 1948. Using the trade-name 'Sailor' and a distinctive hammer-finish green cabinet, the company has set a high standard for marine equipment that has covered a full range of tube and transistor receivers (and transmitters) through to present day satellite navigation and digital transceiver systems.

However, Sailor brand equipment is hard to come by on the used market. Whether this is testament to its longevity or small production runs may be disputed. Some of the shipboard receivers, like the R208, are very desirable - especially when accompanied by their original accessories.
