Return to The Portable Collection

The British Ever Ready Export Company (BEREC) was a bit of an odd bird. It shared head office premises (Hercules Place, London N7) with its parent company but produced models that were only superficially different. For example, the Berec models Jester and Matador are, respectively, Ever Ready Sky King and Sky Baronet but with a different colour scheme.

Although the famed 'Saucepan Special' (Type J Export) model from 1949 was uniquely a BEREC product, there were a range of receivers that used a common chassis or electrical design but had different cases. I cannot say, with any certainty, that the 'Fiesta' was one of those - although it seems to have a mains specification that might be found in many 'empire' markets and a design commonality with most mid-50's Ever Ready sets. Compared to domestic sets of that time, it is also hugely expensive.
