The CN431 'Marquisa' preceded this set by just 6 months and, perhaps, this was intended to complement the lineup. The use of the rotary tuning dial is certainly cheaper to implement than a strung pointer and scale but does not look as 'classy'.

This model uses a ferrite rod aerial, rather than lid-mounted coils. A further point of note - the knobs appear to be green versions of those found on the CN430 'Lady Ann'. Indeed, the chassis appears to be a CN430 without the mains power components - note the large holes punched to the left of the speaker.
